A two-hour creative writing workshop, based on Sylvia Plath’s work, led by Hughes and Plath expert Dr Andrew Armitage. This workshop will use a number of Plath’s poems as prompts for quick poetry exercises. Attendees can expect to leave with drafts of (or, at the very least, ideas for) new poems. Printed handouts of the poems used will be provided. Attendees should bring a pen and paper.

Andy Armitage is a poet from Leeds, West Yorkshire. He lived in New Zealand for ten years where he completed a PhD on Hughes and Plath’s use of Myth, lectured in Modern Poetry at the Victoria University of Wellington and published poetry in a number of journals including Poetry New Zealand and The New Zealand Listener. Since returning to the UK he has written articles on Hughes for the Ted Hughes Society and British Library websites. He works as an editor and is working on his first book of poems Letters to a First Love from the Future.
