A workshop for young people (13 to 19) with Vicky Morris. 13-19? Are you a secret scribbler or fledgling wordsmith? Come join poet Vicky Morris to take some of the themes found in Ted Hughes’ work and spike them with a surreal twist! This is a fun workshop exploring transformation and reinvention through poetry. You’ll also find out what’s happening for young writers in the region. No experience needed, friendly and relaxed!

Any participants brave enough will then be invited to perform their work at the Democracy of Words event on Mexborough High Street.

Vicky Morris is a poet and the founder of Hive South Yorkshire Young Writers project. She’s been published in places like Butcher’s Dog, The Interpreter’s House, Brittle Star, and the Verse Matters anthology (Valley Press). Vicky won a Northern Writers Award in 2014, and The Sarah Nulty Award for her work developing young writers in the region in 2019. She’s currently an Arvon/Jerwood mentee for Poetry.
